Deep-V Catamarans

Dr. A. Mantouvalos completed his Ph.D. in 2007 with subject the development of the 1st Systematic Deep-V Catamaran series, throughout the research project MEKY’s director designed and CFD evaluated 192 Deep-V catamarans yielding interesting systematic data, followed by model tests to validate the numerical tools.

All the systematic data were regressed using Artificial Neural Networks (ANN) and functional relationships between principle dimensions and performance were established for Deep-V catamarans, also a multi-objective optimisation was used that combined with the systematic data and ANN yields a powerful initial design and principle dimension selection tool.

Dr. A. Mantouvalos has contributed to the state-of-the-art hydrodynamics and naval architecture community with the addition of his research, and numerous Deep-V catamarans have been fabricated since, using the design guidelines directly derived from this original work.

MEKY therefore can be considered the world leading expert when coming to Deep-V catamaran hydrodynamic design (together with the university of Newcastle-upon-Tyne and in particular Prof. M. Atlar). For further details please contact MEKY at info@meky.gr.
